They also won their second Stanley Cup championship in this time period.
The Bruins experienced more success in the 1990s and 2000s, winning their third Stanley Cup championship in 2011. The team has continued to be successful since then, making the playoffs in each of the past four seasons.
The Bruins have a long-standing rivalry with the Montreal Canadiens, one of the oldest rivalries in professional sports. The two teams have met in the Stanley Cup Finals 11 times, with the Bruins winning six of those series.
